Products
planned for Central Office installation will require
NEBS approval. We have the ability to design your product
to meet NEBS standards and can provide the means to
see it through a test program.
What is NEBS?
NEBS stands for Network Equipment Building System and is a
physical requirement and testing standard written by Bellcore
which the telephone companies require their equipment suppliers
to comply with. The requirements were created to insure a
product installed in a Central Office was safe, robust, and
extremely reliable. The standard consists mainly of the following
two documents;
- GR-63-CORE
Network Equipment-Building System (NEBS) Requirements:
Physical Protection
- GR-1089-CORE
Electromagnetic Compatibility and Electrical Safety-Generic
Criteria for Network Telecommunications Equipment
Note:
These documents refer to other Bellcore specifications
that products must comply with as well.
